Prepare for the exam

This year's theme is

"Mythological Women:  Magnificent and Maleficent"

Testing dates are November 27 through December 15, 2017

Word and PDF documents are available to be opened/downloaded for the study guide/syllabus are posted below.  Please note that this document is to be used as a GUIDE for further student research.

DO NOT click on the Study guide/syllabus link at the bottom of the page.
This link is a Google feature that has to do with the web page.

Please note:

*The Study Guide has been revised to add memento suggestions as well as links to www.theoi.com.
     *
Questions will focus on the the mythological women on the syllabus.
*The study guide (see below) is intended to help the student prepare for the exam.
*However, there may be questions on the exam that are not covered in the study guide.
     *Knowing more is always
a good thing.
*If a question refers to a specific version of a Classical story, the question will cite the Greek/Roman author.

*Teachers, feel free to use the projects posted in Lesson Plans and Project Ideas.

Teachers do not have to use class time to "teach" the exam's curriculum.  Generally, students who love mythology are a special group of students who are willing to study if they are given a specific focus (aka "the study guide), and often, teachers find that opening their classroom one day a week (or once every two weeks) to give students a safe space to study for the exam, either with other students or by themselves, gives them an opportunity to enjoy a topic they love.   If a teacher provides mythology books books (perhaps checked out from the library) and copies of the study guide, they will appreciate your efforts.

If you order books from Amazon, the American Classical League and Exam Committee members would appreciate your ordering through the American Classical League's account.  Instead of going to Amazon.com, click on this link, ACL Amazon Account.

If students would like to test their knowledge, one way to review would be to take the mythology tests posted on the Florida Junior Classical League web page (http://www.fjcl.org/past-fjcl-tests--certamen.html).  Do note, however, that these tests will cover more than just this year's Exam topic.
